Game Day Salsa
Superbowl Sunday, NCAA Championship, World Series…of Poker. There is always an excuse to celebrate sports greatness and eat a ton of food. As washed up athletes, everyone in Greek Life loves to pretend like they know the most about a sports since they were being “recruited” back in high school. Hey even if the school you were being “recruited” by was a school of about 150 students in Nebraska, you still had your shot at athletic greatness.
These days it is easier to kick back and enjoy others spend hours chasing balls in grueling heat. Salsa is the quintessential appetizer for any sports viewing. This salsa only takes a couple ingredients and can be ready in less than 10 minutes. Throw it on your frat fajitas or eat them with some tortillas chips. Either way, the head coach of your favorite team should be fired. If he listened to your suggestions that you’ve been screaming out all game, your team would have already won.
2 medium sized tomatoes
1 medium sized white onion
1 jalapeño, deseeded
4 cloves of garlic
1 handful of cilantro
1.5 Tablespoons of lime juice
salt and pepper to taste
1. Cut the tomatoes into smaller pieces and scoop out the seeds as well as the pulp. You can use a spoon or your hands. Place into a food processor or bowl.
2. Cut the jalapeño in the center then remove the seeds. Cut into smaller pieces and add to food processor or bowl.
3. Cut the onions and garlic and add it to the food processor or bowl.
4. Cut the cilantro off the stems and mix with the other ingredients.
5. Add the lime juice, salt, and pepper to the bowl. If using the food processor, turn it on and run for 5 to 7 seconds for a thinner salsa.
6. Enjoy the fresh salsa and dig into some beta buffalo wings during the game.
